The Glover House is the oldest western style wooden building in Japan built in 1863. This photo captures the people associated with the Glover Trading Co. They surround Thomas Glover, who is seated, in the garden of the house which had just been built. Since the dimensions of the photo are the same as the ones posted before and after this one, this photo is assumed to have been taken by Beato. Beyond the garden, Japanese workers were piling stones in order to enlarge the house -6155-
