This photo captures the room facing the sea at the old capitan's house and a Dutch flagpole at Dejima. The successive capitans of Dejima lived in this house and saw Dutch boats coming into the harbour. The photographer of this photo, Dr. Bauduin, lived here at No. 3 Dejima since October, 1865.
