Minato River is flowing at a high level on the left and pine trees line the road. The river was not only troublesome because of the danger of flooding but also because it formed a barrier between the old town of Hyogo and Kobe, which was growing rapidly after opening of the port. After the diversion of the river to the west in 1901, the area became Mitanogawa Park and an entertainment district called Shinkaichi.
