Heikenji, head temple of the Chizan School of the Buddhist Shingon Sect, is commonly referred to as Kawasaki Daishi. Under the old treaties, the areas where foreigners could walk freely without passport were limited, and in Yokohama, Rokugo River was the eastern limit. Located near the eastern boundary, Kawasaki Daishi was a popular sightseeing spot among foreigners.
