G.W. Baldwin and R.N. Bird were murdered on the street in front of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura on November 2, 1864. One of the murderers, Shimizu Seiji was beheaded, and his head was displayed at the execution site above Kurayami Slope at Tobe, Yokohama. This business card-sized photograph was shot by Beato.
