This is a hand-tinted photograph taken around 1887. Also known as Pappenberg, Takahoko was famous abroad as the site of Christian martyrdoms in the 17th century. Located at the entrance to Nagasaki Harbour, it was the subject of many photographs. This photograph was taken from Kozakibana. From the left to Takahokojima, Kaminoshima, and Nezumijima.
