The Numa River belongs to the Fuji River system which runs along the west of Ukishimagahara to the north banks of Suruga Bay. The anchored boats may be Japanese-style boats or Bezai boats of the time. Fuji River, with its abundant water, was an important means of maritime transport, connecting the Kofu Basin and Tokai area.
