The garden of Ogiya Restaurant is on the left. The water is flowing through grooves in the rocks apparently made by long exposure. Felice Beato took a similar photograph of the garden at the beginning of the Meiji Period and added the caption: "Stream with a rushing waterfall." Also, a similar photograph was published in an 1872 issue of The Far East entitled, "Waterfall at O-jee from the Tea-House Garden." Taken between 1877 and 1887 (second decade of the Meiji Period).
