The main gate of Minatogawa Shinto Shrine seen from what is now Kobe Station, the starting point of the Tokaido Line in Chuo Ward. Probably taken in the mid-Meiji Period. The theater on the right is Daikoku-za, renovated in 1890. An ultra-modern lamp is installed at the front. This area was formerly an entertainment quarter bristling with shacks for plays, musume gidayu, acrobats, restaurants and so on.
