Omoto Park on the west side of Itsukushima Shinto Shrine has been known for its beautiful cherry blossoms since the Edo Period. These cherry blossoms were depicted by Nagasawa Rosetsu in "The Eight Scenes of Itsukushima" (Important Cultural Asset) under the title "Omoto Cherry Blossoms." The cherry trees can be enjoyed together with the stone lanterns along the approach to Omoto Shrine.
