| A farmer is cultivating the field using black-haired cow at a rice paddie in Uji. A rope and a plow are tied to the back of the cow and each time the cow pulls the plow, the rice paddie is cultivated. A big warehouse is behind and a small shack covered with mats is made temporarily next to it, and a farmer with a balance pole is carrying goods. The rice seedlings may be preserved in the shack. This photo could have been taken by the British photographer H. G. Ponting in 1904. |
