Shinkyo Bridge spans Daiya River at the entrance to Nikko-Sannai. The bridge is also called "Jabashi" (Snake Bridge), referring to the legend that the priest Shodoshonin, when founding Nikko, crossed the river by walking over two big snakes released by Shinja-Daio. The bridge in this photograph was washed away by a flood in 1902. Poles holding power lines are visible.
