This picture postcard published between 1925 and 1920 depicts Sofukuji Temple seen from the Sanmon Gate. The Chinese monk Chaoran was invited from Fuzhou in 1629 and founded the temple in 1635. The Main Hall and First Gate are National Treasures, and the Chinese Gate, Second Gate, Middle Gate and Sanmon Gate are all nationally designated Important Cultural Assets.
