A "Shiro" is a paddy for planting rice seedlings. An ideal shiro is soft and flat. To crack the soil in the paddy and make it flat is called "shirokaki ". This is usually done in three stages: "arashiro ", "nakashiro" and "ueshiro ". It took a lot of energy, and cows and horses were used.
