| This is one of the picture postcards titled "Twelve Scenes of Moji ". There are many such sets. This is Sanbashi Dori Street ( "Pier Street "). The brick building on the left side of the street is Mitsui Co., Ltd. Moji Branch (rebuilt in 1910 after a fire. The building on the left is the Kawau Inn which no longer exists. The mailbox, the gas light, and the rickshaw in front of the inn lend a pleasant atmosphere. It is assumed that this photo was taken around the end of the Meiji Period or the beginning of the Taisho Period. |
