Located in the forest at Mt. Tanzawa, Miyagase was a popular destination in the area where foreigners were allowed to go. Because many foreigners enjoyed the hot springs and trout fishing in the area captured in this photograph, it was called Tojin-ga-Hara ( "Chinese River Bed "). Due to the Miyagase Dam construction in 1998, the entire area disappeared under the water. Currently tourism is being promoted in the Mizuno-go area.
