The town and coastline of Mogi is seen in the mid-Meiji Period. The pier built for the steamers to Unzen in 1901 at the edge of the cape is not apparent yet. Visible half-way along the cape is the Nagasaki Mogi Hotel, a resort for foreign visitors. It is said that crew members of war vessels harboured in the Nagasaki used to march from Nagasaki to Mogi and stay in this hotel. The sandy beach is used to dry fishing nets.
