This is a photograph of Minamiyamate above the Oura Foreign Settlement taken from just above Higashiyamate No. 12 (the big roof on the left); Oura Church and the Glover residence can be seen as well. Originally owned by the Walsh Company, the house at Higashiyamate No. 12 was used as a hospital during the Satsuma Rebellion in 1877. Potter lived in this house with his wife and three children from October 1878 to about 1882.
