Carried on page 211 of the January 8, 1873 edition of "The Far East." The explanation says, "a street vendor sells boiled shrimp for decoration near the roof because the shrimp has power even when it is bent and thus is a symbol of physical strength. It is a scene at the end of the year." The shop has a flag with the name "Honenya".
