The massive Western-style house was the residence of William Alt at Minamiyamate No. 14 built in 1865. It currently stands preserved at Glover Garden. After Alt left for Osaka in 1868, Henry Hunt, Mr. Potter’s accountant and also an employee of the Alt Company, rented the house until the beginning of 1880. The Glover House built in 1863 can be seen on the left just under the Ipponmatsu (single pine tree).
