This photo of Minamiyamate was shot from a higher elevation at Konpira Shrine by the southern edge of the foreign settlement. There are no buildings south of the road. We can see the Hartmans’ bungalow, No. 33, on the right, next to No. 31, No. 14, the Alt residence, and No. 2. The houses on the left are, No. 24, 17, and 18. The flagpole is the Russian Consulate. The Ipponmatsu (single pine tree) on the left towers over the Glover residence.
