This is the entrance of the Hunt residence (the present day old Alt House). The Englishman Henry Hunt was an employee of the Alt Company as well as Potter’s accountant. After Alt left for Osaka in 1868, Hunt rented the residence until the beginning of 1880. Mr. and Mrs. Hunt, their son and three daughters can be seen in front of the entrance door. One of the daughters is being held by a servant. The Imari vase and stone lantern stand in stark contrast to the rest of the the English style garden.
